Colour calibration service and ICC profiles

Improve your colour management with Ace Printer Profiles' colour calibration service. With our ICC profiles for HP, Canon, Epson or any other inkjet printer, customers are delighted with the colour quality in their printed pictures.

So how do you get help with colour management?

You can get ICC profiles in 4 simple steps:

  • We send you 2 image files as an attachment to an email. Print these images from Adobe Photoshop, Elements or Corel PaintShop Pro X. Use your preferred paper and ink combination on the inkjet printer you wish to calibrate.

  • When the ink is dry, post these images to us. We process your images and prepare an ICC profile. The profile is sent you as an email attachment.

  • The attachment is a simple file. You do not need to add any new software to your computer. You also receive detailed guidelines on where to save this file and how to reset your colour settings.

  • Your computer and printer are now ready to produce very high quality images, using the paper and ink combination you selected in step 1.

Tip 1: if you like to use several different types of paper or have more than one printer, why not take advantage of our discounts on multiple profiles?

Tip 2: we don’t mind if you ‘club together’ with your friends to order extra profiles to enjoy a discount

Compatability

Printer Type

  • Our Profiling service is applicable to all inkjet RGB printers, dye-sub and laser printers. It is not suitable for RIP (CMYK) printing.

Operating System

  • Mac OSX/Windows 2000/XP/Vista compatible.

Applications

  • Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Elements, Corel PaintShop Pro X and Apple Aperture can all handle Custom Profiles.

Note: whereas Lightroom and Aperture can use profiles, these two applications cannot be used to create profiles. Therefore profiles must be made with one of the other applications listed.

General Colour Management Advice

Every item in the picture producing chain can be profiled (camera, scanner, monitor and printer) but the benefits are not equal.

Printers

Printers show the greatest variability in colour some being quite good, others much less so but every printer will improve by profiling. As printers are relatively cheap to profile, this represents the best return for cost, so is strongly recommended for those who wish to take the best step to improve colour.

Cameras

Most cameras give pretty good colour. This can normally be improved only in specific use such as in a studio. Profiling is not recommended for general use.

Monitor Calibration

Monitors, like printers have individual characteristics so can benefit from calibration. Generally, the degree of improvement in the colour of the display, when calibrated, varies in relation to the monitor quality. Computer Laptop Monitors for instance have limited ability to respond to calibration. The cost of the calibration equipment may not be worthwhile in such a case. It is useful to note that monitor calibration does not itself influence (actual) Print Colour quality, but the colour between the two will more closely correspond when both the printer and the monitor are profiled.
